Application process, Acceptance, and Move-In Day

I applied to the Disney college program back in late January, kinda on a whim. I have always loved Disney and this was something I thought about doing for a long time. I didn't hear back for a while until I got an email to schedule a phone interview. That made me extremely excited because it usually takes 3-4 times for people to get a phone interview. That happened in early February and it made me incredibly anxious but the interview went very well! I got the news that I was excited around a week later while I would working at GRCC. I am not joking when I say I started very fast walking around the entirety of the kitchens and told all the chefs, my coworkers, and my managers that I was accepted! I also told my parents, obviously, but it was incredibly fun to celebrate my acceptance with my friends at GRCC. I clearly accepted my offer and that started a long 4 month wait to start. Periodically, I would get emails with documents I needed to fill out and all the details I needed before I left including my placement for my job and apartment. I am in a 2 bed, 2 bath apartment so I am sharing my room with someone but so far, my roommate has been lovely. This is only my first night here so we'll see how things go. I am staying at Flamingo Crossings Village East. I also have my car down here, which is very helpful, but it did mean I had to roadtrip down here with my dad, which took over 18 hours. I got here safe and sound though! Anyway, back to what you are probably interested in, I will be working in Magic Kingdom. I am going to be trained at Tomorrowland Terrace and hopefully transfer and work at many places throughout all 4 of the parks. This week will be somewhat slow since I don't start my training until this Friday but I do get to explore the parks so I will hopefully find some good food and have some fun on the rides. This week is more about settling in and getting used to Orlando and I am happy to have that time. I am doing very well and it is currently fantastic here! I will keep all of you updated as I progress in the program, especially if anything interesting happens!

Have a magical day,

Jenna

Here are the photos that go along with this week!

Week 2 & Week 3 (Part 1)

This update is going to be a bit shorter than my last one was, mainly because it was pretty much the same things happening on a daily basis. So to start, I started work last week. I am going to be working at Tomorrrowland Terrace in Magic Kingdom. Tomorrowland Terrace isn't open during the normal day but they do host a dessert party during the fireworks every night. That is what I'm working. There's a pre-party, a party during the fireworks, and a post-party. My job depends on the station I'm assigned but they have a whole dessert buffet, drinks, an open bar, and a cookie decorating table. Plus people who are at the pre or post parties have access to a private garden area to watch the fireworks. Happily Ever After is a wonderful fireworks show and it's so fun to see it every night that I work. That's what I've been doing for most of my time lately anyway. Other than that, I have been to Epcot again along with Animal Kingdom. I finally got to ride the guardi...

Week 1

Day 2: Today is Tuesday and it's my first day here at the program full-time. I don't start training until Friday so I have this week to explore and enjoy the arks. I was very graciously given 3 park hopper passes to use this week so I can visit all the parks and get familiar with the area before I start work. However, before I did any of that, I had breakfast with my parents before taking them to the airport. It was a little bit of a drive but nice to spend some time before they flew home. Once I got back to my apartment, I took a bus to the ticketing and transportation center and then a monorail over to Epcot. One of my friends from high school is doing the program here, which is very nice to know someone else while I'm here but today was a day where I met up with them for the first time in a few years so it was great to see them! Overall, I was in a group of 4 (including me) while we explored around Epcot. Unintentionally, we were on a mission to see all the water featur...
